Strode Preserve

Located at the southeast corner of Shepardson Street and Academy Road, the Strode Preserve is a one-acre parcel of immature forest cover, mostly comprised of alder, fir, blackberries, and ivy. This fairly flat lot could have supported two homes, but under City management, it provides a green belt and buffer from surrounding development. Not long after purchase, the City removed invasive plants on the property, furthering its efforts to keep the parcel in a native state. This effort is also expected to help preserve a nearby wetland and two seasonal streams, while adding to the overall improvement of the watershed.
