Watermain break shuts off water to southside neighborhoods

Major watermain break at 2600 Donovan Ave.

August 11, 2017 - by Amy Cloud, Communications and Outreach

City of Bellingham Public Works crews are on site at 2600 Donovan Avenue in Bellingham's southside, where a large water main has broken.  The crews have mobilized repair equipment and began repair work shortly after 11:00 am

To repair the main, crews must shut off the water main, which will impact residents and businesses in the Happy Valley and Chuckanut neighborhoods.

At this point, it is difficult to tell how long the area will be without water.  This is a significant main break requiring repair.

We will update this announcement as often as we have new information, including on the cause of the problem, the nature of the repair, and timing for water to be restored.
