Taser deployment successful

Bellingham Police arrested 27 year old Enoch Yellow Hawk in the early morning hours of January 13, following a 911 call for help regarding a domestic situation.

Around 2:00 a.m. officers were called to a residence in the 2400 block of Queen Street in Bellingham to assist a female and her children who live in the residence with Yellow Hawk. Yellow Hawk was uncooperative with the officers, and told them he was “armed and dangerous”.

Officers retreated to the front porch of the home as to not cause a confrontation with Yellow Hawk, who was armed with a knife. Yellow Hawk exited the house, displaying the knife, and advanced on the officers.  Yellow Hawk refused to follow the officer's commands, and a Taser was deployed.  The first deployment had no effect, but the second Taser deployment had the desired effect, incapacitating Yellow Hawk.

Bellingham Police Officers exhibited professionalism and sound training during this event.  No injuries occurred during this tense situation.  Yellow Hawk was booked into the Whatcom County Jail for Attempted Assault 1, Displaying a Dangerous Weapon, and Harassment DV.
