Entries are now being accepted for the 13th annual Essence of Bellingham Photo competition, hosted by the City of Bellingham and the Whatcom Museum. Whatcom County photographers, amateur or professional, of all ages are encouraged to capture the true essence of Bellingham, with an emphasis on the people of Bellingham. Entries will be accepted until May 1, 2018.

All entries will be added to the Museum's photo archives, displayed in City Hall and may appear on BTV, the City of Bellingham website and other City publications. Winners will receive special recognition from Mayor Kelli Linville and the Bellingham City Council.

Winning entries will be selected by a jury comprised of representatives from the Whatcom Museum, the professional art community and City of Bellingham staff. The jury will be evaluating the photographs based on how well they capture the essence of Bellingham as well as the quality of the photo.
