Bellingham Parks and Recreation is thrilled to announce that Cordata Park Phase One construction is scheduled to begin and will be completed in the spring of 2020.

The park is based on the master plan adopted by the City Council in September 2017. Phase one focuses on the north activity node including a spray park, playground, parkour area, bicycle pump track, adult exercise area, picnic shelter and restroom. Phase one also includes a trail loop through the park, an open playfield, pedestrian gateways, landscaping, art, and parking.

The general contractor is Strider Construction Company, Inc. who submitted the low bid price of $6,247,499.89.

Phase Two design is planned for 2020 and is anticipated to include pickleball courts, basketball court, covered stage, park pavilion, and additional pedestrian walkways, parking and landscaping.

“This large, regional park will finally bring northern Bellingham residents a new destination for recreation and relaxation,” said Leslie Bryson, Parks and Recreation Director.

The City acquired the 20-acre park in 2015 with voter approved Greenway 3 levy funds, and Park development is funded by Park Impact Fees and Greenway 4 levy funds. The park is located on the east side of Cordata Parkway between Stuart and Horton Roads, in the Cordata Neighborhood.
