City of Bellingham seeks tenant for Bloedel Donovan Park building

Walk-through of former preschool building scheduled for March 21, 9:00 a.m.

The City of Bellingham has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) seeking an organization, individual, or commercial business to lease the building which formerly housed the preschool at Bloedel Donovan Park, 2214 Electric Avenue. The City’s goal is to award a multi-year lease to an entity offering goods or services that enhance park experiences for users of all ages and backgrounds.

The 770 square foot building, originally a caretaker’s house, is still reminiscent of the former preschool, which ceased operations in 2015.  The building will be leased in “as-is” condition, with the option to renovate or modify at the lessee’s sole responsibility.

Proposals to use the building as a private residence or business that does not provide broad public benefit or enhance park user experience will not be considered.

The City Parks and Recreation Department invites interested parties to walk through the building on Thursday, March 21, from 9:00-10:00 a.m.

The RFP is posted on the City’s Procurement Portal. The last day to submit questions is April 2, 2019, and the RFP submission deadline is April 9, 2019.
