Block Party trailer returns for third season

City expecting a full reservation schedule

For the
third year in a row, the City of Bellingham is offering a fully-sto​​​cked
trailer
with everything needed to host a neighborhood block party.
Once again, the service is free. All residents must provide is food, drinks,
neighbors and fun!

Applications
for reserving the trailer will open to neighborhood associations March 1 and the
public on April 5, 2019. The trailer is available to reserve on weekends Memorial
Day through Labor Day. Reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis.

Anyone
wishing to reserve the trailer must fill out a Trailer Reservation Application
to the Parks
and R​​ecreation Department
and then obtain a Special Event Permit
through the Permit Center.

The City
provides online resources and guidelines to help design a
fun and safe block party
. The trailer includes folding tables,
chairs, easy-up canopies, cleaning supplies, barricades, a water cooler,
first-aid kit, fire extinguisher, banner, cornhole bean bag toss, footballs,
sidewalk chalk, hula hoops, giant Jenga and giant Connect Four.

The City
offers this no-cost trailer service to encourage neighborhoods to get to know
each other, have fun, be outdoors and share the Bellingham summer. Residents
are encouraged to use social media tags #CityofBellingham,
#BHamBlockParty and #ProjectNeighborly
to share photos of the best block party moments.
