The Bellingham Police Department’s patrol officers are sworn to protect and serve, preserve the peace and to be a visible presence in our community. Often times patrol officers are the first contact that citizens have with our agency and we strive to maintain the trust of our community as well as enhance the feelings of public safety in our city by doing our jobs in a professional, efficient and diligent manner.
We have two patrol teams, Blue and Gold. There are four squads per team, which include crime scene investigators, K-9 teams, and traffic officers. Hundreds of years of collective police experience allow our agency to maintain a high level of service to our residents and enables our agency to respond to emerging criminal trends.
Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year patrol officers are working to deter crime and assist our community. Patrol officers are the forefront of criminal investigations and serve as the backbone of our agency by providing their service to our community.
