Council Committee Meeting minutes for June 1 and June 15, 2009 were submitted for Council approval.

TB/SS MOVED TO APPROVE THE JUNE 1 MINUTES AS SUBMITTED. The motion carried 6-0-1. GK abstained.

TB/SS MOVED TO APPROVE THE JUNE 15 MINUTES AS SUBMITTED. The motion carried 7-0.

4. OLD/NEW BUSINESS

Council Intern Project Assignments

Council President Buchanan present a list of potential research projects to assign to Matt Petryni, Council Intern from University of Oregon. Following discussion, Council’s research projects were organized by priority: 1. Retail Big Boxes – Strategies for Mitigating Social and Environmental Effects; 2. Cooperative Parking Structure Strategies; 3. Neighborhood Schools and City Infill Strategies; and 4. Construction Standards/Incentives for Noise Abatement in Mixed-Use Buildings/Areas.

SS/TB MOVED TO APPROVE THE FINAL PROJECT LIST. The motion carried 7-0.

Public Development Authority Executive Director Search

Joan Hoisington, City Attorney reported that the Public Development Authority will be conducting interviews and assessment panels for the five candidates for the Executive Director position next week.

AWC Annual Conference

Terry Bornemann reported on the Association of Washington Cities Annual Conference last week. The City of Bellingham was awarded the Green City Award. Terry Bornemann and Louise Bjornson reported that they enjoyed the conference and were glad they attended.

The meeting was adjourned to Executive Session at 4:07 PM to hear the following items:
