City staff is coming to our meeting to provide an overview on city parking planning, and to discuss library parking with us. Thanks to John Watts, our City Council liaison who will be here as well. Our guest is Clark Williams; Larry Farr from the Parking Commission has also been invited.

    Strategic planning

I’ll provide an update for you on Fairhaven, North side (Whatcom Community College), East side (Barkley Village), and Central planning. We are busy!

    2008 budget

Not ready for your packet yet, at your meeting I’ll discuss staffing needs for the 2008 budget.

    Summer reading

Our trustee education for this month is on the library’s summer reading programs. Helen Scholtz, children’s specialist, and Jennifer Lovchik, teen librarian will share some highlights of the summer program. In addition, we will ask for your approval of the teen fine forgiveness program, an incentive program the Board has supported since 2001.

    Policies

In your packet, please note that I’ve included an old policy: Registration Rules and Routines – and the new one (in blue) that I’m proposing to replace it: Eligibility for Library Services.

    Executive session

We have reached tentative agreement with our AFSCME labor union 114 on the classification and compensation study. Lorna Klemanski will present the agreement to you which will go next to the City Council.

    See you on Tuesday!
