DIRECTOR'S REPORT
April 2009

Director’s Report and Highlights April 21, 2009
Pamela Nyberg Kiesner, Director
Bellingham, Washington

Full agenda
We have much to discuss at the Board meeting this month, and have many guests attending the meeting.

Bellingham Public Library endowment fund
As you requested, Mauri Ingram is coming to meet with you about our Bellingham Public Library endowment fund and how it is invested with the Whatcom Community Foundation. For your information, in your packet is another copy of our statement from the Foundation.

The Waterfront
Mayor Dan Pike is attending to share with you his vision of the library on the waterfront. We are also interested in hearing more about his vision for the use of this building. Waterfront Project Managers, Les Reardanz and Linda Stewart are also attending the meeting.

Facilities
For your review prior to the meeting, I’ve included a copy of the 2009 capital projects at the Central Library. I want to discuss with you my priorities and how we can accomplish this work.

Please note too, the Fairhaven topics, including our bid opening date and the potential for a special board meeting so that you can review the bids and make a recommendation to the City Council. We are scheduled to attend the City Council meeting on May 4, where the bid will be awarded.

And more
Other agenda items include a WCLS/BPL Study Committee Report and a report on our progress on some safety and security issues. We are missing J Gordon and Vicky Marshall for this meeting, so I have re-scheduled our Trustee Education to a future meeting.

See you on Tuesday!
