2.46.020 - MEMBERSHIP

The Advisory Board shall consist of 15 members, appointed by the Mayor, who shall serve without compensation. No member of the Advisory Board shall be employed by the City.

A. In selecting members of the Advisory Board, the Mayor shall take the following factors into consideration:

1. One or more members shall have professional, or business expertise in the financing, construction, or marketing of housing, and one or more members shall have background and experience in advocacy for low and moderate income housing concerns, tenant issues, social service needs, or housing consumers in general; and

2. Low income, diverse population, elderly and other social welfare interests shall be represented as available; and

3. At least one member shall be appointed from each of the wards of the City, to achieve geographical diversity; and

4. One member shall be a member of the Bellingham Housing Authority board or staff, and shall serve with no term restrictions; and

5. To the extent possible and consistent with the provisions hereof, the Mayor shall, for the initial membership of the Advisory Board, appoint persons presently serving on the Community Development Advisory Committee.
