Police Chief Interviews

Mr. Bornemann asked if any Member would like to serve on the Search Committee or the Interview Committee. Both Mr. Snapp and Mr. Bornemann expressed their interest. Mr. Bornemann also noted that there will be a need for similar Council participation in the Fire Chief hiring process.

Gateway Pacific Terminal Scoping

Stan Snapp pointed at the scoping process is going on and that there has not been much community conversation. He asked if Council Members would be interested in hosting a community seminar before the end of December. He emphasized it would be an educational seminar to include proponents and opponents to inform the citizens of the scoping process. This would be informational rather than political. Mayor Linville stated her support for an educational opportunity. She reported that the County has hired a consultant for the educational process and advised that any effort by the City to do an educational forum should coordinate with that consultant. The Mayor agreed to bring more information regarding the scoping timeline to the Regular meeting this evening.

Wood Chip Fire

Mayor Linville announced that a fire had started in a large wood chip pile on Hannegan Road. An air quality alert has been issued. It is a very difficult fire to fight and could take up to a week to put out. An Incident Command has been set up. Stan Snapp added that water supply is an issue in that area. Mayor Linville also noted that runoff was an issue as well.
