The Waterfront Futures Project is just the beginning of a dynamic public
process of determining what our waterfront will look like in years to
come. From the very beginning, the process will involve the public. The
Waterfront Futures Group is committed to a planning effort that’s
open, dynamic, and cooperative.
- All meetings are open to the
public.
- Our materials are viewable in our notebooks that have been placed
around town with checkout copies at the three library locations (Lynden,
downtown, Fairhaven), the Downtown Renaissance Network, and the Port
of Bellingham.
- Our guest forums are videotaped and available at the Bellingham Public
Library.
- There will be many regular
opportunities for people to share their opinions, ask questions,
and make comment.
- The final plan will be open for public review and comment. Elements
of the plan will be open for review and comment prior to June 2004 as
they are completed.
- In June 2004, the plan will be first taken to the Planning Commission.
It will then be taken before the City Council and the Port Commission
for comment and approval.
