All About Bellingham

Bellingham is located on the northern edge of Puget Sound nestled between Bellingham Bay and Mt. Baker. We are 90 miles north of Seattle, Washington, 25 miles south of the Canadian border, and 60 miles from Vancouver, B.C.

Our city of just under 70,000 boasts a full-scale University, serves as the county seat of Whatcom County, and is a natural gateway to Alaska, western Canada, North Cascades National Park, and the San Juan Islands. The multi-modal transportation terminal in the Fairhaven district connects people to I-5, Greyhound, Amtrack, the Alaska State Ferry System, and private tour services to Victoria and the San Juans. Our well-developed trail system connects 23 distinct neighborhoods and 30 separate parks operated by the City or the Port, three of which are on the waterfront.

Our nationally recognized quality of life derives from an eclectic blend of:

  • incredible natural beauty
  • vibrant university culture
  • small town friendliness
  • historically preserved buildings
  • abundant business, recreational and artistic opportunities
