Guest Presentations and Public Forums

Guest forums are a valuable way to educate, excite and involve the Futures Group and the public in discussion and learning about key issues linked to waterfront development. These issues include:

• Habitat and restoration opportunities around Bellingham Bay
• Stimulating a strong local and regional economy and encouraging a working waterfront
• Enhancing our natural environment
• Planning for public access
• Questioning and researching character and design issues
• Researching the impact of current and future land uses and re-uses
• Funding opportunities, grants, and Public Development Authorities
• Building and improving upon transportation linkages connections to the waterfront
• The videotapes of all guest forums are also available for checkout at the downtown and Fairhaven libraries.

Other cities in our region have already embarked on waterfront redevelopment and possess expertise and knowledge useful to this process. Experts in various subjects and people from cities with waterfront development experience will speak to the many questions that need to be answered.

The public is urged to attend these forums or to watch them on Channel 10. All Guest Forums will be videotaped and open for checkout at the downtown and Fairhaven libraries as well as repeated showings on EG TV (Channel 10). Being on the mailing list will ensure you hear about these events.
