Scoping Session Comments

Early on in their work, the Waterfront Futures Group wanted to hear from people before developing a Scope of Work for the project. Two scoping sessions were designed to solicit maximum input on numerous areas of interest:

• jobs and economics
• making connections to and from the waterfront
• balancing historic uses with 21st century needs and uses
• land uses and re-uses
• transportation issues and options
• suggested visions for what the waterfront area would look like and who would be using it
• natural systems and the environment
• making neighborhood connections

In March 2003, over 180 citizens gathered on two separate days to contribute their visions for Bellingham’s waterfront. Over 300 comments were solicited from these citizens for the Futures Group to hear. Click on the link below to see what they said.
