By State law, all outdoor burning has been banned within the city limits of Bellingham as of January 1, 2001

Outdoor burning and wood stove use are regulated by the Northwest Clean Air Agency. If you have any questions concerning a wood stove burn ban due to weather conditions, call Northwest Clean Air Agency at 1-800-622-4627.

Alternative to Outdoor Burning

Composting

Composting is the natural process of turning organic material, like leaves, weeds and food scraps, into a rich soil conditioner.  Compost is food for the earth, it keeps plants and soil healthy and it's easy to do.
