Bellingham Youth Triathlon

Bellingham Youth Triathlon

The Bellingham Youth Triathlon has been initiating kids to the sport of triathlon since 1999. We work hard to create an environment of accomplishment for everyone involved. Each participant is awarded a medal as they cross the finish line, we encourage everyone to stay for the prize drawing at the finish where pretty much everyone wins something fun.

Volunteer

We’ll mostly need volunteers to help direct traffic and participants, but we’ll also need assistance with timing, set-up and take down. We’ll need help between about 8:30 a.m. & 11:00 p.m. All or part would be much appreciated.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the swim like?

The swim is in the 25 yard, Arne Hanna Aquatic Center Pool. Participants will start in waves of up to 8 every 10 seconds and circle swim until they’ve finished. Participants must complete the swim unaided.

What is the bike like?

There are some hills on the open roads. We work hard to make the course safe for participants and traffic alike. The course is well marked and volunteers are stationed at every corner with traffic signs and orange safety vests.

What’s the run like?

The run is 1 to 4 laps, depending on the division, in a course set up in the fields next to the pool.

What’s the transition like?

The transition area is directly outside the front doors of the pool. We ask participants to walk into and out of the transition area. We ask parents to be mindful of other parents kids and to give them a respectful berth.

When are results/awards?

Results will follow the completion of the last race (approximately 11:15 a.m.). All participants are urged to attend; we get lots of cool stuff.

What are the prizes?

Prizes were donated by local companies

Is there a time limit?

Participants must finish before the next race starts.
