The entrance to Sehome Hill Arboretum is located on Bill McDonald Parkway at 25th Street near the South end of Western Washington University's campus in the Sehome Neighborhood.
Bellingham Parks & Recreation Department, Western Washington University and the Sehome Arboretum Board of Governors jointly developed a Sehome Hill Arboretum Master Plan in 1978. In the fall and winter of 2001-2002, the Board of Governors, WWU, and Parks & Recreation staff reviewed the existing Master Plan and initiated a Plan update. Through a series of open houses, preliminary plans and alternatives were developed and discussed. The Master Plan update reflects the incorporation of public comments and best management practices for the Arboretum. The updated Sehome Hill Arboretum Master Plan was adopted by Bellingham City Council on February 9, 2004.
