Classes and Activities

The Leisure Guide provides a complete listing of all of the recreation activities that we offer, as well as those offered by other agencies in the area. Registration for most of our program offerings is available online by using the EZ Reg service. You may also mail, call, or walk-in registrations. We offer a wide variety of recreation activities in the following areas:

Sports

Track & Fitness

Enjoy all-comers track, running events, triathlons, and clinics to improve your skills. If you would like to volunteer, contact us to help at various track meets or fitness events. Activities provided for all ages.

Leagues/Classes

Learn or improve your abilities in sports activities such as volleyball, baseball, softball and basketball. Activities are provided for all ages. Game Schedules and League Standings are available online as they are updated.

Youth Sports Camps

For the young athlete, camps are offered in soccer, gymnastics, tennis, volleyball, basketball, track, baseball, and weight lifting during the summer.

Enrichment

Family

Bring the whole family out to participate in such things as play times, hikes, movie nights, dog shows, excursions to Seattle or Vancouver and other community special events.

Family Trips

We take the entire family to see professional games played by the Seattle Mariners, Sonics, and Seahawks. There are also wild adventures to the Woodland Park Zoo or Grouse Mountain.

Specialized Recreation

The Specialized Recreation program provides opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Services include classes, trips and special events as well as inclusion support for participation in any program offered by Bellingham Parks and Recreation.

Youth Trips

Youth ages can go on exciting excursions to the Seattle Fun-Plex, Seattle Center, Woodland Park Zoo and various water parks. Our summer adventure camps provide for a week of day trips.

Preschool/Kindergarten

For the younger crowd, activities include storytelling, arts & crafts, carnivals, concerts, outdoor adventures, toddler time, kindergym, and ongoing preschool.

Youth

Ages 5-14 years can enjoy classes such as dance, cooking, arts & crafts, and drama. Also available are science clubs, summer and spring break camps, birthday parties and special events.

Youth Camps

Specialized camp programs include day camps, kayaking, science, artist, sign language and computer camps as well as outdoor safari adventures.

Teen Enrichment

Activities for middle and high school aged youth including arts & crafts classes, outdoor adventures, late night open gym, and trips to a variety of locations.

Environment

Environmental Education

Families can learn about our local environment and ways to live with it through fun and interesting environmental courses. Classes are also taught at the Water & Sewage Treatment Plant on good water usage.

Maritime Heritage Center

Enjoy the salmon runs in the fall as thousands of salmon come to the mouth of Whatcom Creek to spawn.

Aquatics

Aquatic Center

Arne Hanna Aquatic Center provides many different programs to meet the needs of everyone. The programs include swim teams, water aerobics, water walking and running, swim lessons, preschool and family swims, open and lap swims, and scuba and kayaking lessons. Also available are lifeguard training and instructor training courses, as well as adapted aquatics for people with special needs. The center can also be rented out to patrons for private usage.
