 Waterfront Public Process

On December 17, 2012 the Draft Waterfront District regulatory documents and plans were handed off to the City Planning and Community Development Department to prepare for the formal legislative review process.

August 5, 2013 -  City Council Public Hearing

July 17, 2013 - Waterfront Plan Information Fair
City and Port staff hosted an open house style Waterfront Information Fair, 12 noon to 1:30 and 5:30 to 7 p,m. July 17 in the lobby of Bellingham City Hall.

June 6, 2013 -  Planning Commission (Work Session)
7:00 pm - City Council Chambers (City Hall), 210 Lottie Street: Formulate a recommendation to City Council regarding the Waterfront District Subarea Plan and associated documents. Note: This meeting will be aired live on BTV10 and video-recorded for future viewing.  

May 23, 2013 -  Planning Commission (Work Session)
7:00 pm - City Council Chambers (City Hall), 210 Lottie Street: Discussions will continue regarding the issues raised by the public and the Commission during the hearings and work sessions. Note: This meeting will be aired live on BTV10 and video-recorded for future viewing.  

May 16, 2013 -  Planning Commission (Work Session)

Anticipated discussion topics include transportation, infrastructure and parks. Note: This meeting will be aired live on BTV10 and video-recorded for future viewing.  

April 18, 2013 - Planning Commission (Work Session)
7:00 pm - City Council Chambers (City Hall), 210 Lottie Street: Discussions will continue regarding the issues raised by the public and the Commission during the hearings. Anticipated discussion topics include land-use and zoning, development regulations and design standards. Note: This meeting will be aired live on BTV10 and video-recorded for future viewing.

April 11, 2013 - Planning Commission (Work Session)
7:00 pm - City Council Chambers (City Hall), 210 Lottie Street: Discussions regarding the issues raised by the public and the Commission during the hearings will be had at this time. Anticipated discussion topics include clean-up and brownsfield redevelopment. Note: This meeting will be video-recorded for future viewing on BTV10.

March 28, 2013 - Planning Commission (Public Hearing)
7:00 pm - City Council Chambers (City Hall), 210 Lottie Street: This evening will be entirely devoted to public comments related to the Waterfront District Sub-Area plan and associated documents.  Note: This meeting will be video-recorded for future viewing on BTV10.

March 21, 2013 - Planning Commission (Public Hearing)

March 14, 2013 - Planning Commission (Presentation)
7:00 pm - City Council Chambers (City Hall), 210 Lottie Street: Port of Bellingham and the City of Bellingham staff will present the Waterfront District Subarea Plan, design guidelines, development regulations and planned action ordinance to the Commission. The public is invited to attend this meeting, however no public comments will be taken by the Commission. Note: This meeting will be video-recorded for future viewing on BTV10.

February 26, 2013 - Historic Preservation Commission (Work Session)
7:00 pm - City Council Chambers (City Hall), 210 Lottie Street: The Historic Preservation Commission will continue their discussion of the historic portions of the Waterfront District Subarea Plan, Planned Action Ordinance and the Historical and Cultural Resources Plans.

February 13, 2013 - Parks & Recreation Advisory Board
7:00 am - Beach Pavilion, Bloedel Donovan Park: The Park Board will approve the final memo as a recommendation to the Planning Commission on the Waterfront Subarea Plan.

February 12, 2013 - Transportation Commission
6:30 pm  - Mayor's Board Room (City Hall), 210 Lottie Street

February 12, 2013 - Historic Preservation Commission (Public Hearing)
4:00 pm - City Council Chambers (City Hall), 210 Lottie Street: The Port of Bellingham and the City of Bellingham staff presented the key documents related to historic resources in the Waterfront District. The Historic Preservation Commission conducted a public meeting which focused on the historic portions of the Waterfront District Subarea Plan, Planned Action Ordinance and the Historical and Cultural Resources Plans. Public Comment was taken at this meeting.

January 23, 2013 - Parks & Recreation Advisory Board (Special Meeting)
7:00 am - Beach Pavilion, Bloedel Donovan Park: This special meeting of the Park Board was scheduled in an effort to complete the review of the comments and draft recommendation memo.

January 22, 2013 - Transportation Commission (Work Session)
6:30 pm - Mayor's Board Room (City Hall), 210 Lottie Street

January 16, 2013 - Mayor's Neighborhood Advisory Group
6:30 pm - Library Lecture Room (Central Library), 210 Central Avenue
