Downtown Community Engagement

The community was very involved in the creation of the Downtown Plan.  The project timeline (PDF) describes the process and timeline that occurred.

Past Events

Downtown Plan Open House
December 11, 2013 from 6-8pm at the Mt. Baker Theatre, Encore Room (104 N Commercial Street)

City staff and its partners presented an overview of the Key Concepts in the Draft Downtown Plan and asked the community to provide input. The materials presented at the Open House are available below for viewing and additional comment.

Informational Meetings and Discussions regarding the boundary of the new Downtown Plan and how it relates to the four adjacent neighborhoods:

Phase I

Phase I was completed at the end of 2011. The community input received during this phase was used to help inform the focus of activities that occurred in Phase II.   

Phase II

Phase II “Festival of Ideas” was dedicated to community problem-solving and brainstorming project ideas for downtown. Several activities, workshops, and tours occurred throughout the summer and fall of 2012. The staff presented a summary of the activities and the next steps for the myDowntown project at an open house on November 2, 2012 at the SPARK Museum of Electricity.
