Planning Academy II, scheduled for April 30th, May 7th, May 21st and May 28th, will involve community members in the exploration and formation of a "toolkit" of clearly defined alternative housing types that may be integrated into appropriate areas of existing and new neighborhoods. Bellingham can improve opportunities for home ownership and reduce sprawl by increasing the diversity of housing types that are available. The first Planning Academy happened in Fall of 2006 and was designed to familiarize neighborhood representatives with Bellingham's planning and regulatory code structure. A complete record of all materials is available by clicking here. These sessions provided the foundation for neighborhoods to embark on priority neighborhood code amendment proposals for submittal to the city.
