Responding to community dialogue about waterfront planning, the Waterfront Advisory Group on Oct. 29, 2008, hosted a presentation of the "Blethen/Christensen Plan". This independent design concept was generated by Bellingham architect and planner David Christensen, who has followed the progress of waterfront planning since it began. Christensen created the plan below as a volunteer effort on behalf of himself, John Blethen and others who wish to see the best of the City and Port plans combined.
Mayor Dan Pike has said this plan is an excellent example of the kind of creative thinking that offers hope for a compromise plan that brings together the best ideas of the community.
