The proposed Samish Way Urban Village
is located west of I-5 and north of Bill McDonald Parkway, in the Sehome and
York Neighborhoods. After several years of gathering public input, the
Sehome Neighborhood Association submitted a
Neighborhood
Plan update, which included a proposal for an urban village in this
area. The City is now working on a master plan and new development
regulations that will guide redevelopment towards the urban village concept.
A City Council worksession (PDF) is scheduled for the afternoon of November 9, 2009 to continue the consideration of the Samish Way Urban Village Sub-Area Plan. Although this is not a public hearing, the public is welcome to attend and listen.
The City Council considered the Samish Way Urban Village Sub-Area Plan in a public hearing held on October 5, 2009. The documents they reviewed included the August 6, 2009 Planning Commission's Findings of Fact, Recommendations, and Conclusions, the Draft Development Regulations, the Draft Sub-Area Plan, as well as the following:
