Dewey Valley/Mount Baker Annexation

The proposed Dewey Valley/Mount Baker Annexation includes 302 acres.  The area is adjacent to Bellingham City Limits in the Northern Urban Growth Area and shares a common boundary with the Mount Baker Neighborhood on the south, southeast and west. Bellingham’s Urban Growth boundary forms the northern annexation boundary. Roads that access the site include East Bakerview Road extending from Hannegan Road and the city limits on the west, Mount Baker Highway along the southeast boundary, and Dewey Road extending through the site from Mount Baker Highway to the Ross Road (unimproved) and north into Whatcom County.

The area has 187 residents according to the most recent census data.

The Annexation Process So Far: (see City Council agenda packets for details)

The  Notice of Intention is being reviewed by the Whatcom County Boundary Review Board at this time.

Oct. 23, 2006: Bellingham City Council initiated the annexation process with the approval of Resolution 2006-45.

Aug. 28, 2006: Owners of property in the proposed annexation area submitted the required 10 percent petition for annexation.

June 20, 2006: A neighborhood meeting was held at Fire District No. 4 fire hall on Britton Loop Road attended by approximately 100 residents of the annexation area and surrounding areas.

May 10, 2006: A neighborhood meeting was held at Fire District No. 4 fire hall on Britton Loop Road.
