The Van Wyck / James Street Annexation includes approximately 237 acres. The area is adjacent to Bellingham City Limits and shares a common boundary with the Guide Meridian / Cordata Neighborhood. The King Mountain Neighborhood (annexed to the City in December 2008) borders the area to the south, and the Van Wyck Road generally forms the northern boundary.  

The Annexation Process

September 8, 2009: Effective date of annexation to the City of Bellingham, WA.

August 24, 2009: City Council approves annexation, effective September 8, 2009.

September 29, 2008: Bellingham City Council held a public meeting to consider the annexation petition and voted to initiate the annexation process.

July 18, 2008: A neighborhood meeting was held at the New Horizon Community Church, and was attended byapproximately 24 property owners and interested people from the surrounding area.

February 12, 2008 - Whatcom County Council added this area to Bellingham's Urban Growth Area.
