Bennett/Bakerview/Airport Annexation

Bennett - Bakerview Annexation Map

The proposed Bennett/Bakerview/ Airport Drive Annexation includes 175 acres. The area is adjacent to Bellingham City Limits in the Northern Urban Growth Area and shares a common boundary with the Birchwood Neighborhood to the south. Interstate-5 forms the eastern boundary and Bellingham International Airport is to the north and west.

The annexation would allow for expansion of existing and new businesses near the airport and I-5.

The Annexation Process

August 6, 2007: Bellingham City Council held a public meeting to consider the annexation petition and voted to initiate the annexation process.

August 6, 2006: Bellingham City Council considered whether to move the annexation process forward. Agenda item was returned to committee.

May 18, 2007: Owners of property in the proposed annexation area submitted the required 10 percent petition for annexation to the City of Bellingham.

December 13, 2006: A neighborhood meeting was held at the Hampton Hotel, attended by approximately 45 property owners and interested people from the surrounding area.
