Watserv.shp is an arc shape file which contains the City of Bellingham's Water service line data.
The Arc Attribute Table stores the water service size, type of material and the year it was installed. Note: Only item fields of interest are shown in table below. All internal fields have not been described.
| Item | Type | Length | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| type | Designates type of line (i.e.: service line, hydrant line, fire line, etc.) | ||

| distance | Distance from closest valve or monument if known. |
The shape file was originally (1991) digitized in AutoCAD from 1:1200 Water map pages. The digitized quarter section drawings were adjusted to known section and quarter section coordinates. In 1995, the AutoCAD maps were again adjusted to best fit with surveyed centerline data. In 1996, the AutoCAD information was converted to ArcInfo by city staff. Since 1998, all water assets have been located using survey grade GPS. The shape file is continually updated and enhanced as we receive new source data and correction information.
