Landbase Data contains data that logically associates with, or is comprised of parcels. These include the tax parcels themselves, coded parcel lines, addresses and subdivision annotation. County parcels are also available as provided by Whatcom County. Other "Landbase" data mapped by the GIS department such as Easements, City Property and Right of Ways are also stored here. The data has been symbolized and color coded with mapping parameters conveniently pre-set.
Address Point

Description: The Address Point feature class is
comprised of situs addresses within the City of Bellingham and
vicinity. The situs address defines the location of structures
and/or the parcel they are built on as assigned by addressing
standards.
Symbology: Point symbol has been suppressed by
selecting "no color" as the color choice.
Labels: Labels are displayed based on the ADDR_NUM
field, are dark red, and are set to "place on top of point" so it is
best centered in parcel.
The "Label Features" option is
selected so they will be turned on as soon as you bring them into
your project.

City Property

Description: City Property polygons represent
property owned by the City of Bellingham located throughout Whatcom
County.
Symbology: Polygons are symbolized as a "single
symbol" with a grey and red hatched pattern that allows other layers
to be visible under them.
Labels: Labels are displayed based on the CITY CODE
field, and are red in color with a white halo for better visibility.
The "Label Features" option is selected so they will be turned on as
soon as you bring them into your project.

Easements

Description: Easement polygons represent the
geographical location of various legal documents regarding
maintenance of utilities, property access rights, as well as
determining ownership.
Symbology: Polygons are symbolized based on a
"Unique value" of the SUBTYPE field which tells what type of
easement they are. The polygon colors are displayed at a 50%
transparency so that other features are visible under them.
Labels: Labels are displayed based on the AF_NUMBER
(Auditor's File Number) field, and are black.
The "Label
Features" option is NOT selected so they are not displayed when you
bring them into your project.

Latecomers

Description: Latecomers are represented as polygon
areas. Property owners who construct public improvements may be
partially reimbursed by benefiting owners if a
latecomers contract, facilitated by the City of Bellingham, with
other property owners is implemented. Public improvements include
streets, water mains, sanitary sewer mains, and storm water
facilities.
Symbology: Polygons are symbolized based on a
"Unique value" of the SUBTYPE field which tells what type
of latecomer they are. The polygon colors are displayed at a 50%
transparency so that other features are visible under them.
Labels: Labels are displayed based on the LATECOMER
CODE field, and are black. The "Label Features" option is NOT
selected so they are not displayed when you bring them into your
project.

Parcel Lines

Description: Parcel lines are a line feature class
that depict the boundary of parcels and are attributed with
important information such as data source and accuracy.
Symbology: Lines are symbolized based on a "Unique
value" of the LINE TYPE field which displays if they are
right-of-way, property, lot lines etc. The color, line width and
line symbol vary according to type.

Projects

Description: Projects polygons are drawn to
represent the general location of projects that are completed,
planned, or cancelled in and around the City of Bellingham.
Symbology: Polygons are symbolized based on a
"Unique value" of the TYPE field which depicts the type of project

geographical location and widths of street and other right of ways
in and around the City of Bellingham.

represent the geographical location of street vacations and are
attributed with the Ordinance or Auditor's File number from which
they originated.

"Single Symbol" with vacations shown as a pale blue color. The
polygon colors are displayed at a 50% transparency so that other
features are visible under them.

Tax Parcels

Description: Tax Parcels are a polygon feature
class that represent parcels owned and taxed by the Assessor, each
with a unique Parcel Code as assigned by the County Assessor.
Symbology: Parcels are symbolized as a "single
symbol", yellow.
Labels: Labels are displayed based on
the PARCEL_CODE field, and are black. The "Label Features" option is
NOT selected so they are not displayed when you bring them into your
project.

Joins: The Tax Parcel features class has been
joined to the Assessor database based on the field "PARCEL_CODE".
Several additional fields are in the attribute table
including parcel address, owner, owner address, land values, etc...
