Easement.shp is a polygon shape file of mapped utility easements within the City of Bellingham.
The Polygon Attribute Table stores the easement line type. Note: Only item fields of interest are shown in table below. All internal fields have not been described.
| Item | Type | Length | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| area | Float | 8 | Calculated area of polygon in coverage square coverage units. |
| perimeter | Float | 8 | Calculated perimeter of polygon in coverage units |

The coverage is a combination of two sources:
The first is from an AutoCAD drawing maintained by the Engineering Survey section. Most of the easements with a type of 'un' (unknown) are from this source. These easements have been mapped accurately by deciphering the legal descriptions and mapping using cogo and the City cadastral as a mapping base.
The second source is from an on-going easement research and mapping project being performed by a city contractor. The easements are mapped in AutoCAD and converted to ArcInfo on a section-by-section basis. Most easements that have a specific designated type are from this project.
