Historic Districts is a polygon featureclass which contains the City of Bellingham's National Register Historic Districts and Multiple Property Documentation Boundary. The National Register is the official federal list of districts, sites, buildings, structures, and objects significant in American history, architecture, archeology, engineering, and culture. National Register properties have significance to the history of their community, state, or the nation. The National Register of Historic Places Multiple Property Documentation areas nominate groups of related significant properties. Attributes are limited to the name of the Historic District.
The purpose of the Historic Districts data is to show the location of Historic Districts and Multiple Property Documentation areas within the City of Bellingham city limits and provide historical context to the shaping of the City of Bellingham.
