Forest is a polygon featureclass which depicts the extent of forest cover in the geographic vicinity of the City of Bellingham. Originally created through heads-up digitizing of forest cover from 2002 color orthophotos (6" resolution). Criteria were to capture contiguous forest canopy cover, and individual groupings of 3 or more trees, or particularly large individual trees. Smaller street-trees and landscaping/ornamental trees were not included. Dataset has been partially updated with 2004, and 2006 ortho-imagery. Attributes are limited to a binary forested/not forested value.
The purpose of the Forest data is to show the location of forest cover within the geographic vicinity of the City of Bellingham.
