Habitat Restoration Monitoring

To ensure that the City of Bellingham is
reaching its restoration goals a monitoring program has been implemented at
each restoration site that includes studies and assessments of the
following:
Studies and Assessments
The City of Bellingham Public Work's Environmental Resources Division
conducts a variety of studies and assessments including:
- Fish - including spawner
surveys and smolt trapping which is used to track the number and species
of salmonids
- Macroinvertebrates
- aquatic insects, worms, clams, snails, and other animals without
backbones
- Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL)
- amount of pollution that a water body can receive without violating
state water quality standards
- Culverts - assessment
of all culverts within the city limits

the city’s urban streams
