While the Improved Performance Measures Project defines sustainability for Bellingham, each Green Team has a distinct role in strategy development and implementation.
Green Government Team (GGT) - The City's Green Government Team is a group of city employees representing each department. They work together to facilitate communication, education and distribution of sustainability goals, actions and measures. The interdepartmental coordination encourages a bottom up strategy for implementing sustainability measures. For more information please contact the Public Works Department.
The Smart Growth Team includes staff from several city work units who promote a sustainable community with public and private partnerships. Initiatives include efficient use of land and building resources, protection of the environment, support of the local economy, and fostering social equity. For information on programs or sustainable building practices, contact the Smart Growth Green Team via email: greenteam@cob.org.
The Green Team Steering Committee includes directors and managers from multiple departments who are responsible for resource allocation and alignment. Committee members encourage new ideas in a team-based approach. The Steering Committee approves annual green team work plans and implements priority sustainability measures into Bellingham's municipal operations and community through the Improved Performance Measures Project framework.
