Lake Whatcom Watershed Advisory Board

The Lake Whatcom Watershed Advisory Board meets the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Human Resources Training Room, Second Floor, City Hall.  The public in encouraged to attend.

Purpose

The Watershed Advisory Board shall advise the City regarding the watershed land acquisition program, and the management, maintenance, and use of acquired property. The Board shall provide citizen advice concerning proposed specific land acquisitions except when not feasible.

The Board and City staff shall undertake their functions based upon consideration of the baseline criteria adopted by Joint Resolution of the City, Whatcom County, and the Lake Whatcom Water and Sewer District, as well as upon consideration of the City of Bellingham Overlay Criteria adopted by the City Council. The Board shall annually review the City of Bellingham Overlay Criteria and recommend amendments to the City Council as appropriate.

Time Requirements

Meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Members are encouraged to spend additional time on Board matters outside meeting hours.

Membership

The Board shall consist of seven members appointed by the Mayor. Appointments shall be for three-year terms, and a member may be reappointed.

Attendance Policy

Members are expected to attend all regular meetings. Members who miss excessive meetings without due cause may have their appointments automatically terminated by the Mayor.
