Wet-Weather Peak-Flow Remote Facility

Wet Weather Facility Vicinity Map

Project Overview: WF-1009

The City’s Comprehensive Sewer Plan identified remote storage as the Best Management Practice for addressing wet weather peak flows, and called for a 1.7 million gallon storage facility to control projected Combined Sewer Overflows (CSO’s). To accomplish this, a location study, sufficient preliminary design and site evaluations need to be generated to accomplish comparative economic, environmental and societal (Triple Bottom Line) parameters, and arrive at a recommended site location.

Six potential sites were identified in and around the City’s downtown core and property owned by the Port of Bellingham. Further study narrowed the recommended sites to the three located on the Vicinity Map.

Status - March 2010

Accomplishments: Staff review of draft facility location study. Public meeting held 1/21/2010 to discuss location study.
