James Street Bridge Replacement

Vicinity Map

Project Overview ER-0009

James Street Bridge Replacement Pre-constructionThis project will replace two failing wooden bridges with a single-span bridge, sufficient to accommodate the future re-routing of Squalicum Creek. The street will be widened to include bicycle lanes, sidewalk on the east side, a center turn lane and street lighting. The project also includes a one-way paved parking area for Sunset Pond Park.

Status - August 2014

Accomplishments:  Bridge footings have been installed.  Scour protection for the existing sanitary sewer main that will remain in its present location was installed. A temporary flow splitter will maintain the flow from two tributaries of Squalicum Creek until the reroute can happen in 2015.  Reinforcing for the bridge walls has begun.

Next Milestones: Bridge walls, and spans will be placed in September.
