Vicinity Map

Project Overview ER-0009

James Street Bridge Replacement Pre-constructionThis project will replace two failing wooden bridges with a single-span bridge, sufficient to accommodate the future re-routing of Squalicum Creek. The street will be widened to include bicycle lanes, sidewalk on the east side, a center turn lane and street lighting. The project also includes a one-way paved parking area for Sunset Pond Park.

Status - December 2014

Accomplishments:  Poured the concrete bridge deck and have begun work on utilities that will run through and be suspended from the new bridge deck.  Completed retaining wall installation.

Next Milestones:  In January the watermain, fiber optic, and electrical utilities will be installed under the new bridge and will be brought on-line.  The bridge deck approach slabs and traffic barriers will be poured.  Opening of James Street is anticipated to occur the end of February, or March 2015.
