This project will replace two failing wooden bridges with a single-span bridge, sufficient to accommodate the future re-routing of Squalicum Creek. The street will be widened to include bicycle lanes, sidewalk on the east side, a center turn lane and street lighting. The project also includes a one-way paved parking area for Sunset Pond Park.
Accomplishments: James Street will reopen to vehicular
traffic on March 6, 2015. Partial lane closures are to be expected
periodically as final construction details are completed. Flaggers will be
present during these times.
Next Milestones: Pedestrian railings to be installed in late April.
