This project will replace two failing wooden bridges with a single-span bridge, sufficient to accommodate the future re-routing of Squalicum Creek. The street will be widened to include bicycle lanes, sidewalk on the east side, a center turn lane and street lighting. The project also includes a one-way paved parking area for Sunset Pond Park.
Accomplishments: Project awarded to Ram Construction.
Construction began July 9 as well as the six-month street closure. The
existing bridges have been removed, and the future creek bed placed over
existing utilities to also protect them from any scour from the creek.
Excavation began for the bridge footings.
Next Milestones: Bridge walls, footings and spans to be placed in August.
