2011 Water Main Replacement Program and Resurfacing - Monroe

Vicinity Map

Project Overview: EW-0182

The 2011 Water Main Replacement project is part of an annual program to replace aging water mains that are at the end of their lifecycle and require upgrades. The 2011 project consists of removing and replacing 3800 lineal feet of six-inch cast iron pipe installed in 1918 along Monroe Street from Broadway Avenue to Cherry Street and two blocks along Lafayette Street from Eldridge Avenue to the dead end. After the pipe is replaced, pavement resurfacing will complete the project.

A pedestrian crossing is planned for Broadway at Monroe and Halleck streets to serve students walking to Whatcom Middle School. Bulbed-out sidewalks will be installed on the east side of Meridian and Monroe streets and Monroe and Elm streets.
