The Electric Avenue Pedestrian Improvement Project will involve retrofitting Electric Avenue with new curb, gutter, and sidewalk to facilitate pedestrian movement to and from existing bus stops just north and south of Birch Street, Whatcom Falls Park to the west, and commercial businesses to the north. Handicapped-accessible ramps will be constructed at the corners and ends of sidewalks and crosswalks. An enhanced crosswalk will be installed just north of the Portal Street intersection. Following completion of frontage improvements, the pavement will be resurfaced within the project limits. Striping and channelization will be provided to designate travel lanes, bike lanes, and crosswalks. Funding for this project comes from the Transportation Benefit District (TBD).
