The intersection of Ohio/King Streets and the SB I-5 off ramp has been
listed as a High Accident Location since 1998. The King Street leg of the
intersection is currently controlled only with a stop sign. Turning
conflicts have led to the high number of accidents.
This project will
eliminate left turns from King Street to the I-5 ramp and left turns
from Ohio Street to King Street resolving the turning conflict problem.
Adding a traffic signal at the Ohio/James Street intersection and adding a
westbound right turn lane onto State Street from Ohio Street will improve
traffic flow through the corridor. The Ohio/State Street intersection will
also be reconfigured to improve eastbound left-turn movement and permit
truck traffic to access I-5.
Accomplishments: Project substantially completed. Final inspection held 2/14/11.
Next Milestones: Complete punch list, close out.
