This project consists of replacement of the existing 8-inch 1914 and 6-inch
1918 cast iron water main on Forest Street between Rose Street and York
Streets. The project also consists of pavement resurfacing on Forest Street
and installation of bulbouts at key intersections including Rose, E. Maple,
E. Laurel, and Chestnut Streets. In addition, about 450 feet of 18-inch and
400 feet of 8-inch storm drain will be replaced. As part of the restoration
of the street and water main trench, we will be reducing the width of the
street and providing bike lanes. Work includes the installation of
waterlines, fire hydrants, sidewalk, pavement overlay, and pavement
markings. Bids were opened on April 3, 2009 at 11am. The lowest responsive
and responsible bidder was Ebenal General in the amount of $1,281,377.33.
Accomplishments: The newly installed water line passed pressure and purity tests. All service connections are complete. Phase 2 curb, gutter and sidewalk have been poured.
Next Milestones: Pavement repair and landscape restoration will continue. Resurfacing to take place in spring.
