2009 Enhanced Pedestrian Crossings

ES-0419 Vicinity Map

Project Overview: ES-0419

Corner of Lakeway and Grant - Pre-ConstructionThis annual program constructs pedestrian crosswalk enhancements on arterial streets. Public Works evaluates pedestrian crosswalk requests from Neighborhood Associations and the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) prioritizes locations with significant pedestrian demand so that crosswalks will be installed where they will be most efficient, effective, and convenient for pedestrians. Full funding has been identified to construct pedestrian crossings in 2009 at the following locations:

Northwest/Maplewood
North Samish/Newell
Lakeway/Grant
Alabama/Grant
York/Railroad

The purpose of this program is to enhance intersections where there is high pedestrian traffic to make pedestrians more visible to motorists.

Status - October 2009

Accomplishments: All concrete work at each intersection is complete and pavement restored. Project is suspended waiting on signal poles to be fabricated.
