The 2012 Water Main Replacement project
is part of an annual program to replace aging water mains that
are at the
end of their lifecycle and require upgrades. The 2012 project will
replace water main and portions of the storm sewer on Key Street between
Myrtle and Chestnut Street, Liberty Street between Maple Street and the Dead
End, and through the Sehome Arboretum between the Sehome Reservoir and
Myrtle Street. Most water main replacement will occur within planter strips.
The project area is within Sehome arboretum and and the Sehome Historic District. The proposed alignment of the new water main was chosen to avoid mature trees and existing landscaping which contribute to the character of the community. Trenchless (pipe bursting) methods will be utilized through the arboretum to minimize any disruption to this wild area.
.
Accomplishments: Water main and storm sewer improvements
installed on Key and Liberty Streets.
Next Milestones: On-going pavement and landscaping
restoration .
