Joe Martin Stadium Synthetic Turf Installation

Project Progress Photos (PDF)

Over 120,000 square feet of new baseball infield, outfield & warning track was installed and the field reopened in April 2015. The new synthetic turf outfield will be available for more recreational opportunities including soccer & lacrosse.

The City now has two synthetic fields in its inventory - Joe Martin and Civic Stadium. Over 400 events are scheduled at Civic Stadium each year. Given the limited playable season for natural grass fields, a new all-weather synthetic turf field at Joe Martin was needed to accommodate the increase in demand for year-round playable fields.

Joe Martin Field is located within the Civic Athletic Complex, which is comprised of various sports venues for community athletics, including a football stadium, softball fields, indoor ice skating/soccer arena, recreational trails, skatepark, & lighted parking lots.

Washington State Recreation and Conservation State Grant, Youth Athletic Fund.  $1,438,200.

Park Impact Fees.  $300,000

Construction was complete in April 2015.
