Joe Martin Stadium Synthetic Turf Installation

Description

Joe Martin Field is located within the Civic Athletic Complex, which is comprised of various sports venues for community athletics, including a football stadium, softball fields, indoor ice skating/soccer arena, recreational trails, skate park, & lighted parking lots. The City currently has only one synthetic field in its inventory - Civic Stadium. Over 400 events are scheduled at Civic Stadium each year. Given the limited playable season for natural grass fields, a new all-weather synthetic turf field at Joe Martin is needed to accommodate the increase in demand for year-round playable fields.

Over 120,000 square feet of new baseball infield, outfield & warning track will be installed. The new synthetic turf outfield will also be available for more recreational opportunities including soccer & lacrosse.

Funding

Washington State Recreation and Conservation State Grant, Youth Athletic Fund.  $1,438,200.

Status

Design is currently underway.  Construction is planned for Summer and Fall of 2014.
