Description

Bellingham Parks & Recreation is working with professional consultants to design beach access and shoreline improvements at Boulevard Park.  The Boulevard Park shoreline is eroding away as a result of ineffective shoreline armoring.  Proposed improvements include removing concrete rubble along the shoreline, creating sand and gravel beaches and rock revetments.  The design concept includes converting portions of the existing lawn to a gravel and sand beach.

Funding

Funding is provided by Park Impact Fees and Greenway Levy III - Heritage Park Improvement

Status

Phase 1 construction, including the west beach (just north of the coffee shop) began in June 2013.  Phase 1 work was completed October 2013.  Future phases of work have been approved by the permitting agencies and are awaiting funding.
