Bellingham Parks & Recreation is working with professional consultants to design beach access and shoreline improvements at Boulevard Park. The Boulevard Park shoreline is eroding away as a result of ineffective shoreline armoring. Proposed improvements include removing concrete rubble along the shoreline, creating sand and gravel beaches and creating sandstone drifts. One design concept includes converting portions of the existing lawn to a gravel and sand beach.
Funding is provided by Greenway Levy III as a Heritage Park Improvement.
This project is currently in the design phase. A public meeting was held on January 26, 2011.
