Student artwork featured on holiday greeting cards

2013 card designs

Two Wade King Elementary School students are being honored this year by having their artwork featured on the Mayor's Office holiday greeting cards.

Bellingham Mayor Kelli Linville selected drawings by Jack Wrightson (1st grade) and Ashley Anshus (5th grade) to be featured on this year's Mayor's Office holiday cards. Their illustrations were chosen from more than 200 designs submitted.

Each year, the Mayor solicits drawings from a local elementary school to feature on the cards. The cards are mailed out to hundreds of community volunteers, local, state and federal elected officials, and other community leaders.

Bellingham Public Schools selects one elementary school per year to participate, and students from each grade in that school are asked to submit drawings that illustrate wintertime celebrations. From the drawings submitted, the Mayor selects two to be featured on the cards.

The Mayor also visits the selected school and presents awards to the school and the students whose works of art are chosen.

Congratulations, Ashley and Jack!
