The City of Bellingham welcomes more than 700 community-minded leaders from around the nation to the Business Alliance for Local Living Economies 2011 conference. The conference is being held June 14-17 in Bellingham, centered on the Western Washington University campus and is sponsored in part by the City of Bellingham.
The Business Alliance for Local Living Economies, or BALLE, is North America's fastest growing network of socially responsible businesses, comprised of over 80 community networks in 30 U.S. states and Canadian provinces representing over 22,000 independent business members across the U.S. and Canada.
BALLE's seeks to catalyze, strengthen and connect networks of locally owned independent businesses dedicated to building strong local living economies. BALLE members believe in the power of local businesses to transform communities for the better by working cooperatively toward a shared vision.
BALLE and its 2011 conference bring together independent business leaders, economic development professionals, government officials, social innovators and community leaders, drawing local, state, national and international resources toward a new model of economic development.
