Spring is in the air! There are a variety of City services, events and fun opportunities for citizens to take advantage of this spring…rain or shine!

Clean Green Transfer
Station is open!
Dump your residential yard waste including grass and garden clippings,
small limbs and vines on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the spring, summer
and fall.
Essence
of Bellingham photo competition deadline – May 2
Amateur and professional photographers of all ages are invited to
participate in the "Essence of Bellingham" photo competition, the sixth
annual opportunity for people to capture and share images of Bellingham
life.
Rain Barrel Workshops – May 3 and June 8
Two hours of water-filled information on daily consumption, conservation
and rainwater harvesting. One hour of presentation will be followed by
hands-on construction of your own 55-gallon rain barrel to take home and
install.
Parks Volunteer Work Parties
The
Parks Volunteer Program offers many ways for individuals and groups to get
involved and contribute to the enhancement of Bellingham's park and trail
system.
Procession of the Species – May 7
Join Bellingham's other parade! The Procession of the Species is a parade
that celebrates our community, creativity and our connection with nature.
Big Rock Garden Party – May 8
Celebrate Mother's Day at Big Rock Garden Park. This is the opening day
of a six-month sculpture exhibition and includes live music, tasty
refreshments and a plant sale.
Backyard Habitat & Native Flora Fair – May
14
This is a full day of garden tours, a plant sale, informational exhibits
and activities for the whole family.
Bike to Work and School Day – May 20
May is National
Bike Month. Team up with everybodyBIKE on Friday, May 20, and bike to work
or school. Stop at dozens of "Celebration Stations" throughout Bellingham
for sweets, treats and prizes.
Adaptive Cycle Expo – May 21
Discover why cycling is for people of all abilities. “Have a go” on unique
adaptive cycles that include handcycles for riders with limited or no leg
movement, 3 and 4 wheel cycles for those who need more stability, and tandem
cycles for those who want a guide while cycling.
Friends of the Library Ski to Sea Book Sale – May 25-28
Bargains abound, and all proceeds benefit the Friends of the Bellingham
Public Library, who in turn fund many special library programs, collections,
and services.
